The shot of the iberian lynx/ nat geo delivers.

Iberian Lynx

?. by Pete Oxford and Reneé Bish for National Geographic, May issue

Copy of nat geo arrived in the post yesterday. Today, i sat, took in the cover, and went to page 134, indicated in the lower left corner of the cover.

The picture–

I’ve not been taken in by eyes, poise, vulnerability, strength like that for a while. The lynx really is a gorgeous creature. I read the wild population now numbers at around 225, up from 100 in the past decade, but way below the critical limit for long-term survival. hc doesnt hold much hope in the statistic (“too much inbreeding..less resistance to diseases..”).

But i hope, and i spose ill know by the time im old.

I think there’s no such thing as ‘fair trade’ on a product that comes from an endangered source- especially fur, especially the coveted lynx fur. wearing fur for fashion is putting your own ignorance and vanity on display.

Here’s another photo. Excellent contrast to the one above:
the prettiest people do the ugliest things
for the road to riches and diamond rings
we’ll buy a lot of clothes but we don’t really need ’em
things we buy to cover up what’s inside
